Why not leave a lasting gift in your Will and help future generations of golfers at your club.
As many golf clubs struggle to make ends meet, we want to ensure that Lyme Regis Golf Club has the necessary funds to provide a fantastic golf course and facilities for future generations to come.
You can help the Club do this by leaving a gift in your Will. This gift can be used at your discretion to help us maintain and enhance our club facilities to ensure that Lyme Regis Golf Club retains its status as one of the best cliff top courses in England.
Leaving a legacy gift is an important decision, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. The club can provide information and advice to make the process as easy as possible.
Your legacy could be left in several different forms, for example:
Here are the basics:
For more information, contact the Club Manager. All enquiries will be dealt with in strict confidence.
A residuary gift - what is left of the estate after all other legacies, tax debts and costs have been paid - is a popular option because it takes care of others first and stays proportional to the value of your estate by keeping pace with inflation.
Best to nominate a professional executor, such as a bank or solicitor, along with a family member or friend; please check the charges of hiring a professional executor in advance.
If you do not wish to adjust your existing Will other than to include a gift to Lyme Regis Golf Club you can do so by preparing a document called a codicil that a solicitor can then check is valid.
The Law Society can help with this: visit www.lawsociety.co.uk
A gift to the Club in your Will is tax-exempt and this may save some of the tax your executors would otherwise have to pay. However, we always recommend consulting a solicitor for further advice.
Inheritance Tax is the tax payable on the estate you leave in your Will. Further information and current rates are found on the HRMC website.
